SPIDERS

There are about 500 different species of spiders that live here in Oregon. Most are not harmful to humans, but they can be a nuisance and even downright terrifying for some folks. Fortunately, spiders are not out to get us and can be helpful to us in many cases. However, nobody likes to see spiders inside their home. In Portland and the surrounding areas, many people will not notice spiders until the weather gets warmer. However, it is important to treat for them year-round for preventative control. Spiders will mate in the fall, lay eggs in the winter and spring and hatch in the summer. For long-term spider control, it is best to disrupt their breeding cycle by treating throughout the year. Keeping trees and shrubs trimmed back away from your home, along with maintaining your yard will help prevent spiders from entering your living spaces.
