WASP, HORNETS & YELLOW JACKETS

Stinging insects such as wasps, hornets and yellow jackets are known for being aggressive and can often sting us unprovoked. In fact, stinging insects send over 500,000 people to the emergency room every year. Some of the most common stinging insects in the Portland area are Paper wasps, yellow jackets and hornets. These pests are especially active during late summer and fall when the colonies forage for food that will sustain their queens through the winter. They are also highly attracted to food and sugar, which is why they often come around while eating outdoors in the summer. Paper wasps most often build their nests in higher places like under the eaves of your home or on tree branches, while yellow jackets typically bury their nests below ground. Hornets are the most aggressive of the bunch, and their nests are usually round, paper-like structures found hanging on branches or beneath the eaves.

Nobody wants to get stung by any of these pests, so attempting nest removal on your own can be tricky. With especially aggressive species, professional service is recommended to ensure proper safety measures are in place. Our team can help you get rid of these bothersome insects, so you won’t have to worry at your next backyard BBQ or outdoor gathering!
