FLEAS

fleas

Fleas are parasites that feed on the blood of any warm-blooded body. Fleas do not fly, but rather use their powerful legs to jump onto a passing host. Once the fleas bite, it can result in itchy or painful red bumps. Cat fleas are the most common domestic flea, but dog fleas, tropical rat fleas and even human fleas can also be found in your home. Animals commonly contract fleas, which is why veterinarians typically recommend using a preventative flea treatment for your pets. As exterminators, we highly encourage this recommendation for a few reasons. Not only are fleas bothersome to your pets, but they can also quickly spread and become harmful to you as well. It can also take up to six weeks to get a flea infestation fully under control because of the complexity of the flea life cycle. That is why it is important to act against fleas immediately upon discovery, so further infestation can be prevented.
